The proposal week

“Who was at the door?” Balogun asked as Cynthia returned.

“No one, it’s just the neighbors,” she replied.

” What did they want?”

“Forget about the neighbors, ” she said, and then she sat down on his laps.

” Don’t you want to go inside?” She asked him as she put her arms around his shoulders

Balogun smiled, “You should get ready, we have all the time to do whatever we want to do at my place. Besides my parents are waiting for you.”

“Why are your parents waiting for me?” Cynthia had a puzzled expression on her face as she got up from his laps.

“They just want to meet you before the trip. It’s a family vacation and my brothers are coming along with their wives too ”

“You could have told me about this initially, ” Cynthia complained.

“It’s not a big deal, we are still going to have our time together.”

“No Balogun! I thought the trip was for us alone, ” she said.

“They just want to get to know who you are”

” Then they want you to propose right?” She interrupted as Balogun kept quiet.

“Answer Balogun!”

“It was supposed to be a surprise, for you.”

“I’m not going anymore,” she said

“But why Cynthia? ” Balogun was confused.

“I don’t want to disappoint You or them,” she replied

“What do you mean?”

“I’m not going to say yes”

Balogun was deeply worried by her statement.

Without arguing, he said, “I guess I should be going, ” and he got up from the sofa and headed for the door.

Cynthia sat back on the sofa and began to cry.

She called Amara and Ayo, but none of them received the numerous phone calls she gave them.

Then she called Kelvin. “Can you still come over?” she asked.

“I’ve been hanging around your house since, waiting for you to call me back until I saw another guy leaving your apartment, ” he replied

“I can explain!” she said.

“You don’t have to.” He said and ended the phone call.
